Since Alix wanted to find something cool, but not ice cream, to cure her late night pregnancy craving I thought I would concoct some
watermelon drinks.
A watermelon slush and watermelon sherbet smoothie
They are very good and quenched Alix's craving!
Watermelon Slush
- 4 cups watermelon strained
- 1-2 cups simple syrup
- 2 juiced limes
- 2 cups lemon-lime soda
- couple shakes of salt
- crushed ice - blend to fine powder
- cut and strain watermelon
- juice limes
- add simple syrup
- place in freezer until cold but not frozen
- mix juice with fine ice
Watermelon sherbet smoothie
- 2 cups watermelon strained
- 8 scoops sherbet, we used lemon and lime mixture
- 3 cups lemon lime soda or lime-aid
- 1 cup simple syrup
- Cut and strain watermelon
- add simple syrup and place in freezer to chill
- chill soda in freezer also until slushy
- mix sherbet and soda together in blender
- add watermelon mixture and serve
